Her wooded hills, river plains and coastline offer a wealth of choices for your Tuscany farmhouse holiday. From impressive medieval villas that are the centre of a Super Tuscan wine vineyard, to farmhouses set within acres and acres of olive groves, to farms growing "carciofi" (artichokes) close to the most beautiful beaches in Italy... cherry, peach and apricot orchard farmhouses, or those with Maremman horned cows. The difficult part will be choosing which one.
Maremma, Tuscany farmhouses that offer holiday accommodation are known as "agriturismi". Take a drive anywhere in the stunning Maremman countryside and you will see many "agriturismo" signs along the way.
Most "agriturismi" have constructed independent holiday accommodation alongside the farmhouse, offering self-catering apartments with a barbecue eating area, terraces, garden and swimming pool. Indeed, some "agriturismi" look less like farms and more like private villas! Some have their own shops selling organic produce, including olive oil, wine, freshly picked fruit and vegetables, cheeses and jams.
