Hotel Il Girifalco is situated in a panoramic position below the medieval city walls of Massa Marittima with a wonderful sweeping view of Monte Arsenti and the Alta Maremma countryside down towards the Gulf of Follonica and Maremma Livornese.

And, although it isn't inside the old medieval city of Massa Marittima, it is located just outside below the old city walls on the other side of the road that sweeps around the town heading towards Siena and Firenze. You only have to cross the road to touch the city walls and a maximum of five minutes on foot (all up hill!) will see you deep inside the historic centre. In fact, because finding a car parking space inside isn't easy on normal non-festival days, your best bet in any event is to leave your car outside of the city walls and walk in. Sstaying at this Massa marittima hotel offers no disadvantage location wise, therefore, to those loacted within the medieval city.
On the other side of the hotel there is nothing! just the sheer drop down the hill into the valley below: hence the wonderful views.

The thirty bedrooms - economy, standard and superior rooms - each have a bathroom and telephone. Subject to availability, guests may choose between valley view rooms, communicating family rooms, and rooms with a balcony. One of the bedrooms is suitable for disabled guests.
There is a bar and restaurant, a swimming pool, sauna, gymnasium, garden, and free private parking immediately adjacent to the hotel.
Breakfast comprises of a cold buffet of bread with honey, jams, cheeses, salted meats and homemade cakes. Dinner is available with dishes prepared with regional products, such as tortelli, pappardelle pasta with wild pork ragù, and a peasants "zuppe", all cooked following ancient Maremman traditions.
The hotel uses their own oilve oil, meat and vegetables in the preparation of their menu.
