Looking for Maremma hotels? In these pages you will find all of the many "alberghi" (hotels) that Maremma has to offer, from pure luxury spa hotels to budget two and one star accommodation.
La Maremma may not (yet) be high on the "must see" tourist destination list for Tuscany or Italy, but her spectacular Ligurian and Tyrrhenian Sea coastlines are loved by Italians from Florence, Siena, and Rome, for their summer holidays and weekends.
And likewise, by Swiss, Austrian and German families and couples who return year after year to the same resort.
As a consequence, the towns along the beautiful Costa degli Etruschi, the Golfo di Follonica and the Costa d'Argento are all well equipped to meet the needs of holidaymakers and offer a wide choice of hotels. Indeed, these places come alive in the holiday season, with many establishments that close their doors in the autumn, re-opening at Easter for another year.

Further inland, you will find Maremma "alberghi" in villas and "fattorias" (large farmhouses), situated in the centre of vineyards and olive groves. Many of these properties are still owned by the same family with well-known names amongst wine and olive oil connoisseurs.
Choose to stay in the autumn, during the grape harvest, and you will take home warm memories of Maremma that will stay with you for a long time... and maybe ignite a love for this land that will have you returning again and again... An entirely different experience from a beach vacation.
Or why not do both? Choose a hotel inland, but within easy reach of the coast by car. Stay in the autumn and have the beaches to yourselves, without the paraphernalia of rows of parasols and sun-beds. Explore the countryside around the hotel with the glorious autumnal reds and golds of the vine leaves... and witness the grape harvest. Stay for the first press of grapes and celebrate with the locals the harvest at a sagre or the opening of the deep cantinas...
La dolce vita in Maremma is sweet. Have a great holiday.

Alberese hotels: there is only one option in the village and it is a "casa per vacanza", rather than a traditional hotel. But there are alternatives.
Castiglione della Pescaia is a great place for a first visit to Maremma: a gorgoeus coastline with wonderful wide golden sand beaches, a spectacular preserved medieval centre and a short drive to many other wonderful places.
With great golden sand beaches of its own and a spectacular coastline with some of the most beautiful beaches in Italy nearby, the modern seaside resort town of Follonica is a popular weekend and summer holiday destination for Italians living in Florence, Siena and even Rome, as well as Austrian, German and Swiss families who return year after year.
Massa Marittima is a truly magnificent medieval city with a 13th century cathedral, Sienese fortress, castle, 14th century Renaissance cloister, palaces... steep and twisting alleyways, restaurants, trattorias, osterias, pizzerias, bars with great ice-cream... and only twenty minutes from the Blue Flag beaches of the Gulf of Follonica. It is my favourite town in the Maremma.
These two Piombino hotels are are the most popular in the city centre, and are only minutes away from the sea, the ferry port, and restaurants.
The elite sailing port of Punta Ala is encircled by a purpose-built hotel and holiday home residential area with its own small coves such and the long stretch of Punta Ala beach that runs into Capanna Civinini. The hotels in Punta Ala are all 4 or 3 star establishments.
