Sagre in October in Maremma

Traditional Food Festivals and Feasts

Sagre in October are dominated by the autumnal produce of the densely wooded Maremman hills: this is the month of chestnuts and mushrooms.

Gastronomic "feste" - festivities - are also held during October in Maremma, where it is possible to purchase plates of traditional foods from street stalls and stands. For example, crostini ai funghi, local cheeses and home-cooked sweets... Depending upon your appetite, these can comprise meals in themselves. Additionally, the restaurants in the town will often open their doors during a "festa" with a menu adapted to the event. Information about these "feste" can be found in Events in Maremma.

PIANSANO
Sagra del Tortello, Madonna del Rosario - Feast of the "tortello": a sweet flaky pastry filled with homemade ricotta. This Sagra is part of the towns festivities in honour of the Madonna of the Rosario.
