Three excellent restaurants in Maremma

Three excellent restaurants in Maremma: these are favourite places that we return to time and time again and are never disappointed.

Il Corsaro, Via Arenile, Castiglione della Pescaia +39 0564 933845
On the sand and not easy to find, but well worth the effort. In summer it is open daily apart from Monday and in winter it is open only at weekends. They serve only seafood. The antipasti misti are to die for, with flavours and combinations not often found. The tris of pasta continues the wonderful fishy theme and then if you have space, you can have the freshest fish cooked in wonderful ways. In the daytime you can watch the beach and see the visitors enjoying the seaside. At night, with luck you get a fabulous moon setting over the water. It isn't a luxurious place but the owners are charming and friendly and the food is divine.

Il Fontanile, via Andrea Orcagna, 61 - Grosseto +39 0564 492959 +39 0564 494619 info@ristoranteilfontanile.it www.ristoranteilfontanile.it

Paolo Presente is the chef and owner and when you want elegant, beautifully prepared food, this is the place to come. You pay a bit more but it is worth it and it gives a change from the typical trattoria. There is also a cafe where you can have breakfast or coffee and free wi-fi.

Da Mario, Via Francesco Baracca, Marina di Grosseto, to the left of the church on the main square. +39 0564 34472
A long established restaurant, rune by Roberto, son of founder Mario. There is a pizzeria but the main attraction is the restaurant with an excellent wine selection and typical Maremman dishes prepared with a modern twist. They offer seafood and meat dishes and all are heavenly. Easy parking, seating inside and outside.

Buon appetito!!
