Perelli 1 beach in the Golf of Follonica near Piombino is suitable for surfing, and kitesurfing and windsurfing out of the summer holiday season.

Type of wind - Tipo di vento

Surfing is only possible with the southern winds: south and south-westerly.

Si esce con venti esclusivamente meridionali: S, SW.

Type of wave - Tipo di Onda

The wave is created on a sandy bottom. On the spot flows a river lined by with two rock embankments. From one side of the mouth of the river a left wave is created, and on the other side a right wave.

E’ un onda che si crea su un fondale di sabbia. Sullo spot sfocia un fiume arginato da due pennelli di scogli, da un lato della foce si creano onde sinistre, dall’altro lato si creano onde destre.

How the wave is generated - Come si genera l'onda

The waves are generated after south and south-westerly sea storms. The wave does not hold during an active sea, so it s not surfable while the wind blows, To have a good possibility of surfing it is recommended to wait for at least 12 hours after the storm.

Si genera dopo mareggiate da S, SW. Non regge mare attivo, ovvero l’onda non è surfabile mentre soffia il vento, per avere una buona surfabilità è consigliato attendere almeno 12 ore dalla fine della mareggiata.

How to reach the spot - Come raggiungere lo spot

From the Aurelia (SS1), take the "Vignale Riotorto" exit. Continue along the SP23bis in the direction of Piombino.

Just past the camping site "Orizzonte", take a left turn indicated as the "PERELLI 1" road.

Follow the road until its end. The spot is easily recognizable from the mouth of the river and a small fishermens house built on stilts in the sea adjacent to the pier.

Dalla Variante Aurelia (SS1), uscire allo svincolo “Vignale Riotorto”. E proseguire sulla SP23bis, in direzione Piombino.

Appena superato il camping “ORIZZONTE”, svoltare a sinistra all’indicazione stradale “PERELLI 1”.

Percorrere la strada provinciale fino alla sua fine. Lo spot è riconoscibile dalla foce del fiume e da una casetta a palafitta dei pescatori costruita dentro al mare.
